The Reframe Library
This page answers one question: “What does 'The Reframe Template' look like in practice?”
The MMI Reframe Library is not a collection of verdicts, and it is not a formula for deciding what is “true” or “false.”
It is a living archive of real-world claims examined through the MMI Lens — a standardized way of asking questions that makes the framing of information visible rather than obscured.
In many digital spaces, misinformation is treated as a problem that can be solved through fact-checking or automated moderation alone. While these approaches play an important role, they are shaped by built-in assumptions, institutional priorities, and algorithmic incentives. Media ecosystems are complex, cultural, and emotionally driven. They cannot be fully understood or evaluated through binary labels or singular authorities.
The MMI Lens does not claim to be foolproof. It does not replace expertise, research, or evidence. Instead, it focuses on something often overlooked: how people come to believe what they believe.
Each reframe applies the same set of questions to a claim in order to examine how it is framed, why it gains traction, what emotions it activates, what context may be missing, and who is encouraged or discouraged from questioning it. By doing so, the Reframe Library promotes metacognition — thinking about how we think — and creates space for discussion rather than dismissal.
The Reframe Library is built collaboratively. Reframes are contributed by volunteers from diverse backgrounds who share a commitment to thoughtful inquiry, respectful discussion, and curiosity over certainty. Each contribution follows the same standardized framework, ensuring consistency while allowing for multiple perspectives.
This archive exists to model a healthier way of engaging with information: one that values nuance, acknowledges uncertainty, and treats questioning as a civic skill rather than a personal flaw.
